F irst of all, I love to organize parties, celebrations, events, gatherings, anything that mixes people, food and drinks. Every occasion is a good reason to set a pretty table and chat while you have a few nibbles. I am a bit fussy in the way I present food, and I believe the humblest of the dishes could look glamorous with a little care and love. Takes almost nothing to garnish, and makes all the difference. In the case I have done the canapés with some homemade  crab sticks pate and  some cheddar and cucumber. I also do in many occasions homemade tuna pate, For garnishing: cucumber, pickled parsnip, red radish and coriander. It´s done! These two pates are very popular in Portuguese houses. They are easy to make, and probably we have a can of tuna in our cupboard and some crab sticks in our freezer. We do it as a starter or in the summer mid afternoon with a glass of white wine or Vinho Verde (green wine). For the crab stick pate. Ingredients: 8 crab sticks

Quem não tem namorado é alguém que tirou férias não remuneradas de si mesmo. Namorado é a mais difícil das conquistas. Difícil porque namorado de verdade é muito raro. Necessita de adivinhação, de pele, saliva, lágrima, nuvem, quindim, brisa ou filosofia. Paquera, gabiru, flerte, caso, transa, envolvimento, até paixão, é fácil. Mas namorado, mesmo, é muito difícil. A protecção não precisa ser parruda, decidida, ou bandoleira: basta um olhar de compreensão ou mesmo de aflição. Quem não tem namorado é quem não tem amor: é quem não sabe o gosto de namorar. Há quem não sabe o gosto de namorar. Se você tem três pretendentes, dois paqueras, um envolvimento e dois amantes; mesmo assim pode não ter nenhum namorado. Saturday breakfast happiness has a name it is called in Portuguese: PÃO DE DEUS, which means God`s bread. Basically it’s a cake made with bread dough, with a little bit of sugar and coconut.You can have it plain, but it’s much better when served with butter and ham.It’s just one of these things very hard to resist.The mix of sweet and salty is so addictive, and then if you serve it with a coffee...You will  have a happy day guaranteed. It is very popular in all bakeries in Portugal, specially in Lisbon, but in London, I normally need to travel to Stockwell or Notting Hill where there is a bakery. Is one of the things that I really miss when I’m in London, and once in a while, I have to travel to get my craving fixed!!
