Essaouira - Moroccan Paradise

By the title of this post you can easily understand that I absolutely love Essaouira. Actually, it’s not a secret that I absolutely love Morocco. I have visited the country quite a few times, but every visit is just like the first one: the same excitement, the same curiosity, the same felling if discovering new things! My latest trip was quite special because Richard went with me. He had a completely different idea about Morocco when he arrived and he left  surrendered to the country and it’s people. This trip was also special because is the first time that I visited an Arab speaking country, after having started my Arabic classes,  and it was amazing to have the chance to practice.
Anyway about Essaouira, what not to like? A city by the sea not too far from Marrakesh with blue skies and a small Medina. The perfect place for a weekend break.
You can enjoy the best of Morocco: Delicious food, shop local and artesanal products, eat delicious fish, enjoy some tea and read a book or write postcards in one of the rooftop cafés, wonder around the Souk without getting lost,  because it’s quite small, have your fish grilled straight out of the sea, go for a long walk along the coast, have a lovely evening at the hungry nomad hostel, where food will be served at 8:30 on communal tables and after great music will be played by the lovely yang team that runs the place, enjoy street food as I did almost every day because I couldn’t resist the amazing fried fish with sauce and bread, enjoy a massage in a hammam...Do you still need more reasons to go??
You can’t fly directly there but you can fly to Marrakesh, and then take a very comfortable bus with high speed internet that takes only two hours and 30 minutes to get there.
I’m looking forward to my next trip to Essaouira!!
My only advice is, if you go during winter or autumn, take warm clothes because it gets quite chilly in the evenings!
